Travis Scott Organizes Second Annual Cactus Jack HBCU Celebrity Softball Game Featuring Metro Boomin, Bun B, and Other Stars
Travis Scott took center stage in his native Houston last Thursday evening, delivering a grand slam with the second annual HBCU Celebrity Softball Game. This star-studded event was a collaborative effort between Scott’s Cactus Jack Foundation, Project H.E.A.L., and the Astros Foundation, held at the iconic Minute Maid Park. The game featured a who’s who of celebrity participants, including the likes of Metro Boomin, Teyana Taylor, Amber Rose, Swae Lee, and Anthony Mackie, alongside Houston’s own rap legends Bun B, Scarface, Paul Wall, Slim Thug, and Trae Tha Truth, among others.
CJ Stroud, the quarterback for the Houston Texans, was named MVP of the evening, leading his all-star team to a resounding victory.
The softball game served as the opening act for the Cactus Jack HBCU Classic, a baseball tournament that showcases Division 1 baseball teams from historically Black colleges and universities, such as Alcorn State University, Prairie View A&M University, Grambling State University, and Texas Southern University.
The event was a family affair for Scott, with his parents Jacques Webster Sr. and Wanda Webster, his twin siblings Jordan and Josh, and his grandmother Miss Sealie, a former professor at Prairie View A&M, all in attendance.
Through the Cactus Jack Foundation, Scott has contributed over $1 million in scholarships, benefiting more than 100 students at HBCUs. The foundation’s mission, as stated on their website, focuses on empowering the youth by providing them with the necessary access to education and creative resources to ensure their long-term success. It emphasizes that no young person should be barred from achieving their dreams due to their circumstances, committing to broaden educational opportunities for all.
