Joseph Wyatt and his father, William Wyatt, are celebrating a major milestone: their Southern comfort food brand, Ben’s Boyz Premium Food, has secured a distribution deal with Target. Their products will now be available in 457 Target stores nationwide, marking a significant achievement not just for the family but for Black entrepreneurs everywhere.
What began as a father-and-son dream has grown into a thriving business that represents family, perseverance, and premium Southern cuisine. Their journey from a food truck to grocery store shelves is a testament to hard work and community support.
From Humble Beginnings to National Distribution
In 2020, the Wyatts launched their venture with a food truck parked in a Greensboro, North Carolina shopping center. Joseph’s vision and determination inspired William to fully support the idea, and the truck quickly gained a dedicated following. Recognizing the potential of their unique Southern dishes, they opened a brick-and-mortar restaurant in Greensboro, where they cultivated a loyal customer base.
The journey, however, was not without challenges. Last year, William faced a personal battle with cancer, spending 16 days in the hospital. Despite his health struggles, his commitment to the business never wavered. In fact, he joined Joseph to record a promotional video for their brand, demonstrating the resilience and determination that have become hallmarks of their success.
Southern Comfort Foods With a Family Legacy
Ben’s Boyz Premium Food is more than just a brand—it’s a tribute to the Wyatt family’s heritage. The name itself honors William’s father, Ben, grounding the business in a deep sense of family history. Their products also celebrate family members, such as “Aunt Dot’s Salmon Patties,” named after Joseph’s mother.
The expansion into Target stores up and down the East Coast marks a significant turning point for the Wyatts. “I still wonder if this is real,” William said. “It’s been an incredible journey, and to see our products in stores feels like a dream come true.”
A Symbol of Perseverance and Entrepreneurship
The success of Ben’s Boyz is an inspiring example of how dedication and teamwork can turn dreams into reality. Starting with a simple food truck, the Wyatts have built a brand that not only serves delicious food but also uplifts their community.
Their story resonates beyond their hometown of Greensboro, representing the potential of Black-owned businesses to achieve national success. Today, Ben’s Boyz Premium Food is available in more than 400 Target stores, bringing a taste of Southern comfort food—and a legacy of family and perseverance—to customers nationwide.
For the Wyatts, this milestone is more than a business achievement—it’s a celebration of their journey and a reminder that dreams, when fueled by hard work and unity, can truly come to life.
