‘Bob Marley: One Love’ Makes Waves, Surpasses $100M At The Global Box Office
Paramount’s musical biopic, “Bob Marley: One Love,” is not just jammin’, it’s smashing records at the global box office. Within a mere 10 days of its release, the film has raked in an impressive $101.1 million worldwide, with $61.4 million coming from North America and $39.7 million from 59 international territories.
Retaining its top spot on domestic charts for the second weekend in a row, “One Love” grossed $3.7 million on Friday alone. Internationally, the film pulled in an additional $3.3 million on Thursday and expanded into eight new markets over the weekend.
Debuting on Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14, “Bob Marley: One Love” exceeded expectations with a stellar opening, earning $28.6 million over the traditional weekend and a whopping $52 million during the six-day holiday stretch. Despite receiving mixed reviews from critics (holding a 42% average on Rotten Tomatoes), the biopic resonated strongly with audiences, earning an “A” CinemaScore. Produced with a budget of $70 million, the film proved to be a solid investment.
Kingsley Ben-Adir delivers a captivating performance as the legendary reggae icon, Bob Marley, with Lashana Lynch portraying his wife, Rita Marley. Directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green, the film chronicles Marley’s musical journey, from his transformative African and European tour in the mid-1970s to the creation of his groundbreaking album, “Exodus.”
