NFL Legend Randy Moss Invests in Chick-A-Boom, a Restaurant Chain Co-Founded by a Black Woman
Randy Moss, once a dominant force on NFL football fields as a wide receiver, is now venturing into the food industry. In early 2023, the NFL Hall of Famer signed an expansion deal with Chick-A-Boom, a restaurant chain based in Philadelphia, PA, that was founded in 2019.
Recently, on July 29, Moss and Chick-A-Boom celebrated the opening of a new drive-thru restaurant in Philly, marking a significant step since their official partnership.
Moss was drawn to Chick-A-Boom not only as a chicken lover but also because of his admiration for the food and the inspiring story of the company’s co-founder, Brittany Tolliferreo. Their shared goals and values made it an easy decision for Moss to invest.
Despite facing challenges during the pandemic, Chick-A-Boom experienced rapid success under Tolliferreo’s leadership. In less than four years, the business expanded threefold and secured major deals, including concessions at Eagles Stadium and the Mann Center for the Performing Arts in Philly. They also launched two food trucks and introduced branded products like “Boom Juice” and “Sky20 Water.”
In 2023 alone, Chick-A-Boom announced a catering service, an entertainment arm, and concession deals with six Pennsylvania universities and colleges.
Moss’s involvement brought about a major expansion deal, including the grand opening of the new restaurant and the establishment of a Chick-A-Boom Sports Club in his hometown of West Virginia. The partnership also entails additional restaurant and drive-thru locations.
Tolliferreo expressed her excitement about going into business with a legend like Moss, appreciating not only his entrepreneurial spirit but also his commitment to their shared vision.
In addition to his role in the expansion, Moss will collaborate with Chick-A-Boom’s entertainment division to launch the “Randy Moss All-Star Comedy Jam,” where they aim to book top artists for headline performances. This partnership promises to be an ultimate fusion of talents and aspirations.
