Tyler Perry Reportedly Provides 93-Year-Old Josephine Wright with a New Home
Tyler Perry Reportedly Provides 93-Year-Old Josephine Wright with a New Home Amid Legal Battle Over Her Property. In the midst of her struggle to maintain ownership of her land, 93-year-old Josephine Wright has found a new home thanks to Tyler Perry.
Wright found herself embroiled in a lawsuit filed by Bailey Point Investment Group over her property—a 1.8-acre piece of land that had been in her family’s possession for over three decades. Following her husband’s passing in 2012, Wright took charge of the land.
The lawsuit alleges that Wright has encroached on the property, and Bailey Point Investment Group aims to construct 147 homes on the land. Reportedly, they offered Wright $30,000 for her property.
Wright strongly disputes the allegations, stating, “My porch is not on their property,” as per CNN.
Wright’s legal team contends that Bailey Point Investment Group has employed tactics such as “intimidation, harassment, [and] trespassing” in their pursuit of claiming the land.
“I want to be left alone. I want to continue living peacefully on my property, just as I have always done,” she expressed, as reported by CNN.
This case has garnered attention from notable figures such as Snoop Dogg and Kyrie Irving, who jointly donated $50,000 to Wright’s GoFundMe campaign.
Snoop Dogg shared his motivation, stating, “I did it from the heart. She reminds me of my mother and grandmother.”
The initial fundraising goal for the GoFundMe was set at $350,000. At the time of this update, a total of $363,245 has been raised. These funds were intended to cover Wright’s legal fees, property taxes, and the installation of a fence to demarcate her property from the proposed development.
An update on the GoFundMe page revealed that a tree had fallen on Wright’s home, causing two holes, fortunately without injuries.
Tyler Perry, who has been closely following Wright’s case, is stepping in to help by constructing a five-bedroom home for her in South Carolina, according to a reliable source cited by TMZ.
